  1. Psalm 147:1, 11

“Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him! … the LORD delights in those who fear him, who put their hope in his unfailing love.”

  1. All creatures of our God and King

  1. Prayer

Almighty God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, you are holy, holy, holy. You are merciful and mighty. There is none beside you.

Angels fall down before you. For you were, and are, and evermore shall be.

You are perfect in power, love, and purity. All your works shall praise your name in earth, and sky, and sea.

Today, once again, we approach your throne of grace with boldness. For you have called us and set us apart for yourself.

You have given us faith and reconciled us to yourself.

You have adopted us and given us access to you.

And so we pray as Jesus taught us:

Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.

Your kingdom come, Your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us this day our daily bread.

And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.

Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;

For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever

  1. Assurance of pardon

“If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. …we have one who speaks to the Father in our defence – Jesus Christ, the Righteous One. He is the atoning sacrifice for our sins.” (1 John 1:9, 2:1-2)

  1. You’re the Shepherd, We’re the Sheep

  1. Prayer

Blessed Lord, who caused all Holy Scriptures to be written for our learning:

Grant us so to hear them, read, mark, learn, and inwardly digest them, that by patience and the comfort of your holy Word we may embrace and ever hold fast the blessed hope of everlasting life, which you have given us in our Saviour Jesus Christ; who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.

  1. Scripture Reading: Psalm 4 (NIV 1984)

1 Answer me when I call to you, O my righteous God. Give me relief from my distress; be merciful to me and hear my prayer.

2 How long, O men, will you turn my glory into shame? How long will you love delusions and seek false gods? Selah

3 Know that the LORD has set apart the godly for himself; the LORD will hear when I call to him.

4 In your anger do not sin; when you are on your beds, search your hearts and be silent. Selah

5 Offer right sacrifices and trust in the LORD.

6 Many are asking, “Who can show us any good?” Let the light of your face shine upon us, O LORD.

7 You have filled my heart with greater joy than when their grain and new wine abound.

8 I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

  1. Scripture Reading: Ephesians 4:17-27 (NIV 1984)

17 So I tell you this, and insist on it in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking.

18 They are darkened in their understanding and separated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them due to the hardening of their hearts.

19 Having lost all sensitivity, they have given themselves over to sensuality so as to indulge in every kind of impurity, with a continual lust for more.

20 You, however, did not come to know Christ that way.

21 Surely you heard of him and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus.

22 You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires;

23 to be made new in the attitude of your minds;

24 and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness.

25 Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to his neighbour, for we are all members of one body.

26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry,

27 and do not give the devil a foothold.

  1. Sermon

  1. Reflection (listen / watch): Psalm 4 (When I Call) – The Psalms Project

  1. Prayer: (From a collection of prayers known as ‘The Valley of Vision’):

Lord Jesus Christ, fill me with your Spirit, that I may be full of his presence.

I am blind – send him to make me see; dark – let him say, “Let there be light!”

May his comforts cheer me in my sorrows, his strength sustain me in my trials, his blessings revive me in my weariness, his presence render me a fruitful tree of holiness, his might establish me in peace and joy, his incitements make me ceaseless in prayer, his animation kindle in me undying devotion. Amen.

Father we pray too for all who are struggling to sustain and strengthen their business and industry at this time. In your mercy please enable much fruitful work throughout our society for the common good. Grant to business leaders the insight, creativity, and wisdom they need to deal with the challenges ahead. Let there be a healthy flourishing of businesses and services once again.

For leaders in government charged with taking massive decisions while facing many unknowns, we ask that you might lead and guide, rule and overrule, for the good of those under their care.

In church life too, we pray for leaders in congregations and at denominational level, that you would give clarity of mind, peace of heart, and wisely chosen words.

As a family of believers, increase our love for one another. Give us patience for the road ahead, and an eager readiness to share with others the hope that we have in Jesus. Build your church. Extend your kingdom. And be glorified in our lives.

For we pray in Jesus’ name, and for his sake and glory alone.

  1. O Church Arise

  1. The Aaronic Blessing (Numbers 6:24-26)

The Lord bless you and keep you; the Lord make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the Lord turn his face toward you and give you peace.
