How to Participate
Use the order of service below to pray, read from God’s Word, sing, and hear this week’s sermon.
Order of Service for Sunday 22nd March 2020
- Behold our God
- Take a minute in silence
to search your own heart and confess your sins (thought, word, and deed) before God.
Take time to read and pray slowly:
“Our Father, who is in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Your kingdom come, Your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us.
Lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil;
For Yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory, for ever and ever
- Assurance of pardon
Having confessed our sins, let us be assured:
“The Lord is compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, abounding in love.
He will not always accuse, nor will he harbour his anger for ever; he does not treat us as our sins deserve or repay us according to our iniquities.
For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is his love for those who fear him; as far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.”
- Jesus, strong and kind
- Scripture Reading
Please Read Mark 1:40-45
- Jesus Heals a Man With Leprosy
A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”
Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!”
Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.
Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: “See that you don’t tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them.”
Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
Almighty God our Father, we thank you for our fellowship in Christ, and for your deep compassion in giving us your one and only Son.
Help us to show your love and compassion to each other and to our wider community at this time.
Help us to point people to Jesus.
Move by your Spirit to grant faith and repentance to many, and continue to build your church in these days of trouble.
Bring healing to those who are sick.
Watch over the weak and the vulnerable.
Comfort the bereaved.
Provide for those who are facing great financial uncertainty.
Grant your help and strength to the caring professions.
Draw near to those who are anxious and lonely.
And in all things, bring honour and glory to the Lord Jesus Christ.
In his name we pray
- Leaning on the everlasting arms:
- The grace
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God,
and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit, be with us all, evermore.
