What we believe

Good news of great joy for all people (Luke 2:11)

The good news is that Jesus, the eternal Son of God, has come to do for us what we could never do for ourselves. His perfect life, sacrificial death, and bodily resurrection, bring us forgiveness and new life with God forever.

The Bible

The Bible is the true story about God and what he has done for us in Jesus Christ. It’s all about Jesus.

The Bible (which consists of the 66 books of the Old and New Testaments) is the written word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. The Bible is the revelation of God’s truth and is infallible and authoritative. It is therefore the only foundation for faith and practice.

52 questions and answers about the Christian faith

The truth of the Bible is so precious that we want to help each other learn, memorise, and teach it, with clarity and conviction. The New City Catechism is a great tool for that.

Here are 52 statements about what we believe – each with a short video, Bible reference, commentary, and prayer. This excellent resource is based on earlier catechisms from the Reformation-era, such as the Westminster Shorter and Larger Catechisms (1648) to which all elders within the Presbyterian Church in Ireland subscribe.
